Travel: Trek on Ghattuppal Hills near Hyderabad

The Sun dawned as usual...

But on 6 Jan, it was different and had a significance... Saw the sunrise after many days. Woke up at 4:30 AM and reached the meeting point at 6 AM as scheduled. We stated off from Hyderabad Central at 7:15 AM. Had breakfast at Choutuppal and reached Gattuppal at 10 AM which is 90 kms from Hyderabad. Commenced the trek at 10:15 AM. Venkee briefed us about the details of the trek and safety instructions. Initial milestone was to reach the first peak before lunch. But to our surprise we reached an hour before lunch. We had lunch between 1- 2 PM by the temple. Tree climbing and antakshri was awesome. I wouldn't go into the details as we 12 guys know about it and to cherish it, you have to be a participant. We scaled two other peaks before we reached the highest peak in the Uppal region. Awesome sight of the other side of the hill. We started the decent at 3:30 PM and reached the village at 5 PM. We then started off at 5:30 PM.

Wonderful experience. Lot of excitement and thrills. Managed to see a few langurs and were followed by them. I and Apurv were the advance party and we heard a Hyena very closeby. It sent a chill down our spine. Decent was as expected tough.  I will continue trekking. I am used to trek in forests and hills. But the hills in this region is different. Nevertheless exciting and challenging - cuts and bruises to go with :)
